I've just completed a new quest, Prospective Horizons. For a change of pace, this one takes place in Spaceship and Palace. Finally they can be played outside of Battle mode. ;) These areas don't work perfectly, so make sure you check out the forum topic to know what to expect. Enjoy!
January 21, 2010I'm pleased to announce that Famitsu -Maximum Attack- v2 is now playable in Ultimate mode for PC users. At long last we can play this quest in every difficulty setting. =) Note that the Ultimate Map Fix is required to play this quest, and the tool to do it can be downloaded in the PC downloads section of this site. You can also view the forum topic about the quest here. Happy killing! ;)
December 30, 2009I've added a pre-patched pso.exe for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users to be able to type without the IME, and I've also added a patcher for people who prefer to apply the fix to their current pso.exe file. Thanks go out to Wiccaan / atom0s for making a fix for this problem!
November 1, 2009The max stat patch has been released, so hopefully this will fix the former disparity between the various classes and narrow the gap between "good" and "bad" characters. Grab it in the PC downloads section of the site, and check out the forum topic here.
October 18, 2009Since the trackers in my PSO PC and DC Torrents were no longer active, I've altered the tracker URLs and given both of them multiple trackers to use. If you've been having trouble connecting to the swarm, please download the new files. Sorry for the inconvenience; trackers never seem to stay up as long as one might like. >_<
October 7, 2009On a rather minor note, I've released a patch for PSO PC to change the dull ring effects used for Shifta, Deband, Jellen, and Zalure into sparkle effects similar to those used in Ver.1. You can grab the patch in the PC downloads section, and you can find the forum topic here.
September 9, 2009I don't have any news specifically for PSO, but today is an important landmark. The Sega Dreamcast turns ten years old today. Without the Dreamcast there would be no PSO, so it should be a day of celebration for every PSO player. If you can, take some time today to play some Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, or the like. Happy birthday Dreamcast.
June 22, 2009Yes, two updates in one month. =P I've just released the High Quality Music Pack to improve the quality of PSO PC's BGM. You can get it in the PC downloads section of the site, and you can view the forum topic about it here.
June 4, 2009Today is a day I have long awaited. The PSO Ver.2 Enhancement Pack has finally been released! You can get the patch for PC in the downloads section of the site. I should have the Dreamcast image uploaded by tomorrow (I uploaded it to a file sharing site earlier, but it got deleted, so I have to upload it somewhere else.) You may also notice that the new drop charts and item statistics are available as well. You can also check out this forum topic for more information. Enjoy!
The Dreamcast image has been uploaded! You can get the link in the downloads section of the site. Thanks go to DC ISO Zone for hosting Dreamcast images like this one.
May 8, 2009Well I thought that I would release a small patch for the game since it was easy to make. I've created the PSO PC Offline Map Pack, which will make the offline maps for Forest and Cave have full spawns like online mode. Finally the boredom of offline Cave having 2 Evil Sharks per spawn when there should be 10 is over. n.n You can grab the patch in the PC downloads section, and also check out its forum topic. Enjoy!
March 14, 2009Hello all. I've got some good news for the PSO PC community. After plenty of testing and tweaking, I'm pleased to say that the PSO PC Graphical Fix Pack has been completed! You can now grab it over at the PC Downloads section. If you want to get a preview of what the game looks like once the patch has been installed, check out this page. You can also read the forum topic about the fix pack here. At long last PSO PC looks a little better. ;)
January 31, 2009Once again I've failed to update this page as regularly as I should, but that doesn't mean nothing is in the works. I'm currently working on a long overdue patch to fix the terrible droprates in the game so that the multitude of items that are statistically impossible to find will become findable. Check this topic to see how it's going.
In other news, Lost HELL PALLASCH is available on the DC/PC Only ship as well as the revised Lost HAVOC VULCAN which is now known as Resurgent Darkness.
November 15, 2008After a long hiatus, I have two great pieces of news for the PSO Ver.2 community.
First, after a lot of work and a multitude of CD-Rs, I have completed a self-booting copy of PSO Ver.2 PAL-E for the Dreamcast so Dreamcast users can continue to play online. You can get the Torrent for it in the Downloads section of the site.
Second, I have released Resist Mod 2.0 to further improve the damage that Forces can deal in Ultimate mode. You can download it for PC in the PC downloads section of the site, and I am proud to say that for the first time with the release of this new Dreamcast disc I have been able to bring the Resist Mod to Dreamcast users so Forces can enjoy doing useful damage on the Dreamcast as well.
In addition, I have added a download for DiscJuggler 4 to the downloads section of my site for people who want to use the old version to burn their Dreamcast images, and I have also added a tutorial on how to burn Dreamcast images in the Guides section of the site. Enjoy!
June 16, 2008Well, there have been a few updates since the last time I posted on this page. First, the Japanese Blue Burst quest Fragments of a Memory has been translated and converted for use on DC and PC. Second, the updated Towards the Future has been uploaded. Third, Challenge Stage 9 has been fixed! It is now possible to play the quest cross-platform. Finally, The Tinkerbell's Dog 2 has been uploaded for DC Ver.2.
I've also taken the opportunity to update my Challenge mode section a bit now that Stage 9 is fixed, I fixed the part about doing stages in order as well as the information about the Stage 9 bug in both the FAQ and the Stage 9 walkthrough. I also added a bit more information about Falz.
April 4, 2008Amazingly, I have added something to the Dreamcast downloads section. Schthack's DNS tool is up for people who have a BBA and don't want to use a CB to connect anymore. Since Schthack left he doesn't seem to be hosting it, so now I am.
March 24, 2008Hello all! You might notice a new link on the sidebar, I have created a forum for PSO Palace. I'm hoping that since I seem to get pageloads on this site that people will use it, and perhaps we can revitalize the DC and PC communities. Get posting and tell your friends!
Unfortunately I cannot give only good news today, there was a sad announcement in the Schtserv project recently. Schthack has stepped down and passed the administrator hat to Crono. =( I believe this change was coming for quite a while, Schthack had been getting less and less active in the project for some time, so it was only a matter of time before he finally lost interest. Still, it is a very sad day for PSO fans everywhere across all versions, as the man who saved this game from falling into obscurity has finally stepped down. If you want to pay your respects, there is a topic on the Schtserv forum for it, which you can find here.
All hail Schthack!
March 12, 2008Well, I'm pleased to say that the new Torrent is thriving. The morning after I started it I had 5 seeds helping, and now I currently see 10 seeds and 16 peers. Of course TPB's tracker sometimes gives inaccurate statistics, but usually the numbers it returns are lower than the actual count, rather than higher. ;) Thanks to everyone who's helping, it's good to see people still care about this game and want to keep it alive.
On another note, I've fixed the online README pages. I apparently forgot to upload them when I was doing the main site update, so that is now fixed.
March 8, 2008Hello again. After a long hiatus, there is another update. If you have been trying to download PSO PC from my Torrent, you may have noticed that it's very difficult to connect to people. This is because ISOHunt has decided to block all users from the United States from connecting to their trackers. Because they acquired Torrentbox, the tracker my Torrent is hosted on, this means there haven't been any American users on the Torrent for many months. This has caused the Torrent to die after a successful three year lifespan. It really lived quite a long time, for which I am very pleased.
However, the old Torrent is no longer usable by most people. Therefore, I have created a new one which is now hosted on The Pirate Bay. It is my hope that this tracker won't go down, so the new Torrent will help people get the game once more. I will be seeding as much as I can in super seeding mode, so the tracker may not indicate that there is a seed in the swarm, but don't worry, I don't intend to go anywhere until we have a new seeding population. So please, download and seed the new Torrent to keep PSO PC alive! You can get it in the downloads section where the original Torrent was.
With the new Torrent, the site has also received a small update in that the registration information is now contained on the site itself rather than inside the Torrent. This should hopefully prevent the README file from becoming outdated like it was in the original Torrent.
July 27, 2007Hi again! Did you think I wasn't actually going to update again? Don't be silly. As I said, I have compiled a fairly large Challenge mode database including a beginner's guide, in-depth guide, and detailed walkthroughs (including maps) of each stage as well as an about section on my Challenge mode experience and where some of my data came from. I hope people find it useful! I'm not sure if it's all completely done yet, I may make changes sometime down the road, we'll see if I think of anything to change or add.
Also you may notice that I've added a contact page, if you want to send me an e-mail you can do so, if you appreciate what I've got here I'd like to hear from you to know people really are reading this site. =) Bye for now!
July 11, 2007Hi! No, despite what people may think, I'm not dead. It may seem that way, but really, it isn't true. There's really two main things that I'm updating for:
First, yes, Sega's Dreamcast server finally went down. =( PSO DC is no more on the official servers, alas. Oddly, the server went down twice. It went down and people believed it was gone, but then it came back up and stayed online for a while before it finally went down for the last time. Apparently some guy at Sega HQ in Europe didn't get the memo that they were shutting down PSO and flipped the server power switch back on or something. =P In another ironic twist, the EU DC server stayed up longer than the GC servers. Haha for PSO GC, DC ended up outliving it after all. ;) R.I.P. Sonic Team PSO servers. =(
In a spot of good news though, the Hunter's License server did NOT go down! It seems that Blue Burst shares the same authentication server as PSO DC, or at least they're in the same location, as the JP BB auth server has the same IP address as the DC HL server, or something to that effect. Apparently this means Sega won't kill the HL server until they retire the official BB servers, and *possibly* PSU might be linked as well, so we might even have until Sega retires PSU before we are forced to find a fix for the HL server. For the time being, USv2, JPv1, and JPv2 are all still playable online. =)
Yes, there is going to finally be a content update to this site. I've been so disheartened at the lack of Battle and Challenge mode players that are still remaining, so I'm going to open the Challenge mode section of this site, which will have information, strategies, maps, and walkthroughs for the Challenge stages. Maybe if people have some idea of what Challenge mode is and how to approach it we'll get more people interested in tackling the mode. I just hope I get it all put together fairly quickly so I can get the ball rolling. ;)
